Fees and Other Charges 2022

Will my child receive Early Years funding or will I need to pay for nursery?

  • AGES 0-2: Most children aged 0-2 years do not receive any Early Years funding so full fees are payable as per the prices below. Some eligible 2-year-old children receive means-tested “2-year old funding.” This begins the term after their second birthday. We offer 2-year-old funding on a year-round stretched basis which means an eligible child will receive up to 11 funded hours per week for 50 weeks. Please see: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/children-families/childcare/childcare-funding/15-hours-funded-childcare-for-2-year-olds
  • UNIVERSAL FUNDING FOR CHILDREN AGED 3-4: all children aged 3-4 are eligible to receive Early Years funding. We offer this funding on “stretched” basis only which gives up to 11 funded hours per week for 50 weeks per year. This funding begins the term after the child’s third birthday.
  • EXTENDED FUNDING FOR ELIGIBLE CHILDREN AGED 3-4 (for working parents): eligible working families with children aged 3-4 can apply for extended funding (sometimes known as the “30 hours funding”). We offer this funding on “stretched” basis which gives up to 22 funded hours per week for 50 weeks per year. It is the responsibility of parents to apply for this funding from the Government website in the term before funding begins. It is also the responsibility of parents to reconfirm their eligibility every 3 months (Government requirement). This funding begins the term after the child’s third birthday.
  • STRETCHED FUNDING: Please be aware the stretched funding is only for 50 weeks per year and excludes one week over Christmas and the first week of April. Fees will apply for the April week.
  • FUNDING FOR CHILDREN AGED 4: Children aged 4 usually receive a reduced number of funded hours in the 2 terms before they start primary school. This is due to the way the council allocates funding.
  • ADDITIONAL HOURS: Parents are welcome to book additional sessions. These are charged at our standard rates.
  • SESSION AVAILABILITY: We try to be as flexible as possible with our sessions but, due to demand, it is not usually possible to book places on a “mornings only” basis. All sessions are subject to availability and there may be a waiting list for popular sessions. We do not usually offer term-time only places.
  • FUNDING START DATE: please note that all Early Years funding starts the school term after the child’s 2nd or 3rd birthday and does not therefore apply immediately after the child’s birthday.
  • MINIUMUM SESSION LENGTH: our session options are shown below. Our minimum session is 4 hours and we cannot register children for shorter sessions. This means for example, that if you receive 11 hours of funding per week and you wish to book 3 sessions per week (12 hours in total), your funding will cover 11 hours and you will be charged the normal rate for 1 hour.
  • The following websites provide detailed information on the childcare funding available:
  • All additional hours and services will be charged at the rates below. Funded hours for children aged 3+ are usually subject to a consumables charge as per below.

Terms and Conditions

  • Please refer to “Fees and other charges” for details of discounts available.
  • When you book sessions at Jack and Jill, this is a contractual agreement between yourself and the nursery and fees are therefore payable in accordance with our terms and conditions from this point onwards. You will therefore need to give 8 weeks’ notice in writing if you wish to reduce your child’s hours, withdraw your child from the nursery or cancel your booking. The 8-week notice period begins from the date you register your child. If insufficient notice is given, normal fees / charges will be payable for the notice period.
  • Fees for hours booked are fixed and are payable whether your child attends or not.
  • Invoices will be sent out by email at least one week in advance of the month for which the invoice is due. Please kindly note that all fees / charges are payable by the first of the month. Please ensure that we have an up-to-date email address for you.
  • Extra sessions are subject to availability. Please contact us to check availability. Extra sessions are usually available in the school holidays.
  • Hot lunches can be booked for a minimum of 4 weeks at a time and should be requested at least 3 weeks in advance. A notice period of 3 weeks is required should you wish to cancel hot lunches for the following month. Notice must be given in writing.
  • Any adjustments to your invoice such as extra hours will be invoiced separately on the following month’s invoice.
  • If a payment reminder letter is sent to you, you will incur a £10.00 charge plus an administration charge of £10 for each week for which the fees are late. Returned cheques will incur an administration charge of £25.
  • We may not accept a child at the nursery in the case of late payment.
  • We regret that days off due to illness and holiday must be paid for as a place has been reserved for your child.
  • The nursery is closed for approximately 1 week for Christmas / New Year and you will not be charged for this period. Fees will be charged as normal for any other sessions missed due to holiday or illness, etc. Please notify the nursery of your holiday plans at least 4 weeks in advance.
  • The nursery is closed on bank holidays / public holidays. You will not be charged for any “paid hours” missed due to bank / public holidays unless this is an exceptional “one-off” holiday for national events etc.
  • We make every effort to stay open and offer a full service to all our children and parents. If however, the directors and management decide that the nursery has to close for reasons beyond our control such as snow, ice, flood, power-cut, industrial action, major health & safety issues, etc, fees / charges will be payable for your contracted hours and no refunds will be due. In such cases, we will make every effort to minimise the closure period and to notify you in advance. Any change to this policy, is solely at the discretion of the nursery.
  • If your child is required to miss nursery on the advice of a doctor, medical professional, NHS Track, PHE or similar authority either due to illness or the requirement to self-isolate or the requirement of the nursery to close part or all of the nursery, fees will be charged as normal and no refunds will be due. Any change to this policy is solely at the discretion of the nursery.
  • Once you have registered with the nursery and booked a place, eight weeks’ notice in writing is required should you wish to withdraw your child from the Nursery or if you wish to reduce the number of sessions. If insufficient notice is given, you will be charged for your normal sessions during the notice period.
  • Fees, etc will be reviewed annually. In addition, we reserve the right to review fees, etc at any time by giving 1 month’s notice.
  • We send invoices and important information by email and via the Famly app. Please ensure that we have up-to-date email address for you and that you notify us of any changes to your address or phone number. Thanks
