Work with us

Jack and Jill Nursery is always pleased to hear from enthusiastic, caring and reliable people who are interested in joining our friendly and experienced team.

We recruit throughout the year for:

  • permanent full-time and part-time positions;
  • temporary positions;
  • bank and casual staff;
  • apprenticeships.

We welcome applications from qualified early years practitioners and will also consider suitable applications from unqualified candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, reliability and commitment to working with young children.

Available positions and working patterns will depend on the needs of the nursery.

Nursery practitioners and assistants

We welcome applications from flexible and dedicated nursery practitioners and assistants.

For qualified roles, applicants should ideally hold a full and relevant Level 3 early years qualification and have suitable experience of working with young children.

We will also consider applications from unqualified candidates for suitable roles. Training and development opportunities may be available, depending on the position and the needs of the nursery.

Successful applicants must be willing to work flexibly within the nursery’s opening hours. Depending on the role, this may include providing cover for staff absence, annual leave and periods of increased demand.

All appointments are subject to our safer-recruitment procedures and to applicants demonstrating a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

These checks may include:

  • an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check;
  • satisfactory references;
  • identity and right-to-work checks;
  • confirmation of any relevant qualifications;
  • satisfactory completion of a health and suitability declaration;
  • any other checks required for the role.

Please download and complete our application form. A CV alone will not be accepted.

Apprenticeships

We welcome applications from people who would like to begin or develop a career in early years childcare through an apprenticeship.

Apprentices work alongside experienced practitioners while completing a recognised early years qualification. Applicants should be enthusiastic, dependable, willing to learn and committed to supporting the care, learning and development of young children.

Apprenticeship opportunities are subject to availability and the nursery’s staffing requirements.

Please complete our application form or contact Sally Jameson for further information.

Bank and temporary staff

We also welcome applications from enthusiastic and dependable people who can provide temporary or casual cover for staff absence and other staffing requirements.

Bank staff may be offered work at varying times between 8.00am and 6.00pm, depending on the nursery’s needs. Applicants should therefore be reasonably flexible and, where possible, available to accept work at short notice.

Applications are welcomed from both qualified and unqualified candidates. Relevant early years experience is desirable, and preference may be given to applicants holding a full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 early years qualification where this is required for a particular role.

All appointments are subject to the same safer-recruitment and safeguarding requirements described above.

Safeguarding commitment

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at Jack and Jill Nursery.

All staff, apprentices, bank staff, temporary staff, students and volunteers are expected to take an active role in keeping children safe. This includes following the nursery’s safeguarding policies and procedures, attending required training, remaining alert to possible concerns and reporting any concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. They must also be willing to challenge unsafe practice, maintain appropriate professional boundaries and work openly and responsibly as part of the nursery team.

Any offer of employment or placement is subject to satisfactory safer-recruitment checks and continued suitability to work with children.

Applications

We recruit permanent, temporary and bank staff throughout the year, so there is no general closing date for applications unless a particular vacancy states otherwise.

Where we do not have a suitable position immediately available, applications will normally be retained securely for up to six months and may be considered for relevant vacancies arising during that period.  Applicants may ask us not to retain their application or may request its deletion at any time by contacting the nursery.

For further information, please contact Sally Jameson.
